Qld: 1,200 at Nudgee College vaccinated against meningococcus

Two-thirds of the staff and students at a Brisbane private school have been vaccinated
against the deadly meningococcal disease which has killed one boy and made another seriously
ill.

The acting principal of St Joseph's Nudgee College, MIKE SENIOR, says around 1,200
staff and students have been vaccinated since the program started yesterday.

All 1,800 are expected to be immunised by Monday.

Meningococcal disease killed 13-year-old Nudgee College student DANIEL LAHERTY on August 5.

Another student, 16-year-old CHRISTOPHER D'ARCY, is seriously ill in hospital with
the same strain of the disease.
