Fed: DPP awaiting medical advice on Mal Colston s health

CANBERRA, Jan 11 AAP - The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is poised
to announce whether or not it will go ahead with the trial of former Labor senator Mal
Colston.

The DPP is awaiting medical reports from its own experts on Dr Colston's health and
its impact on his ability to stand trial.

The DPP dropped 28 fraud charges against Dr Colston in 1999 after it was revealed the
former Queensland senator was dying of cancer. The charges related to alleged travel rorts
in 1997.
