NSW: Autistic boy's mother found

SYDNEY, Dec 30 AAP - The mother of a young autistic boy who was abandoned in Sydney's
west earlier this month has turned up, the Department of Community Services (DOCS) said
today.

The woman arrived at the same office where she had left her young son three weeks earlier,
DOCS said.

The boy, known as Timothy, was left at the Spencer Street, Fairfield, DOCS office by
his distressed mother at 2.30pm (AEDT) on Thursday, December 6.

Police have now spoken to the woman and DOCS will liaise further with the mother in
the coming months.

The boy, aged between six and eight, would remain in the care of DOCS for at least
another two months with the agreement of the mother, DOCS said.
