Conference on Legal Aspects of Information Between Theory and Practice.(Conference news)

Muscat, March 12 (ONA)--- conference on "Legal Aspects of Information, between Theory and Practice" will kick-off tomorrow (Sunday) at the College of Law in Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) under the auspices of Dr. Ali bin Saud al Baimani, SQU Vice Chancellor.

The conference, which will cast light on major legal problems cited by information and its practical applications, aims at developing the legal rules for information and encouraging the teaching staff to do scientific research and find the legal solutions cited by information.

The conference will discuss four main themes. The first theme will cover information, contracts, problems of e-contracts, e-consumer protection, electronic evidence and conflicting laws within the framework of the e-contracts.

The second theme will discuss information and civil responsibility, the settlement of disputes, the e-broker liability, liability for author's rights violation in the digital space, the liability of the e-authentication services providers and the e-settlement of disputes.

The third theme will discuss information and penal responsibility. It will include a number of working papers on information crimes, criminal protection for the digital data, criminal responsibility for the violation of personal data on the internet and criminal responsibility for brokers.

The fourth theme will cover e-government, as well as, public rights and freedom on the internet.
